Artisanal Pencil Sharpener, David Rees

David Rees energetically eschews  mechanical pencils and electric sharpeners. In his new book, How to Sharpen Pencils,  he educates the reader on the satisfying process of hand-sharpening a #2 pencil.
Rees presents two pencil sharpening events in the Hudson Valley this weekend - he'll be at Hudson Valley Auctioneers in Beacon on Saturday 5/5 and at Spotty Dog Books and Ale in Hudson on Sunday 5/6.

Albany Civic Theater - "The Farnsworth Invention"

Aaron Sorkin, creator of The West Wing and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip as well as Golden Globe and Oscar winning writer for The Social Network is also the author of the play, The Farnsworth Invention, which details the invention of television. The Albany Civic Theatre is producing the play and we speak with director, Aaron Holbritter and by the actor playing the title character, Philo T. Farnsworth, Tom Templeton.

Winterpills

Three of the five members of the band, Winterpills, join us at The Linda for an interview and to play some music. Their latest album is All My Lovely Goners. Winterpills are playing with Rosary Beard at Steamer 10 Theatre on Friday, May 4 as part of Steamer 10's Eclectic Performance Series.
