Union College - Taps

Taps, the eloquent and haunting military bugle call played at funerals, and wreath-laying and memorial services, turns 150 this year. The man responsible for coming up with the tune is Daniel Butterfield, a member of Union’s Class of 1849.

We welcome Jari Villanueva, a retired Air Force veteran and author of Twenty-Four Notes That Tap Deep Emotions: The History of America’s Most Famous Bugle Call.
