Massachusetts Republican U.S. Senate Candidate Gabriel Gomez made campaign stops in the Berkshires yesterday where he stressed a bipartisan message. And according to local GOP officials, he’ll have to continue to work hard to win more support in a solidly Democratic part of the state.

Markey, Gomez Win Mass. US Senate Primaries

 Democratic U.S. Rep. Edward Markey and Republican former Navy SEAL Gabriel Gomez won their party primaries Tuesday, setting up a race between a 36-year veteran of Washington politics and a political newcomer for the U.S. Senate seat formerly held by John Kerry.

Markey defeated fellow U.S. Rep. Stephen Lynch in the Democratic primary while Gomez, who's also a businessman, bested former U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan and state Rep. Daniel Winslow in the GOP primary, according to unofficial returns. The special election is scheduled for June 25.

Mass. Senate Primary Voters Will Have a Choice of Candidates at Polls

BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts voters heading to the polls on primary day in this year's special U.S. Senate election will find something that was missing from last year's Senate race — a choice of candidates.

Three Republicans and two Democrats say they've collected more than the 10,000 certified signatures needed to land a spot on the April 30 ballot.

Former U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan said Wednesday his volunteer signature effort was successful and he'll join state Rep. Daniel Winslow and Cohasset businessman Gabriel Gomez on the Republican ballot.
