Vox Pop : Open Forum – Election 2012 : 8/1/12

With Election Day only about four months away, President Barack Obama and presumed Republican candidate Mitt Romney have kicked their campaigns into high gear.

The week so far seems to be a loser for Romney, who topped the headlines not for suggesting bold policy changes, but for a series of campaign gaffes that called into question his stances on race in America and international relations.

Vox Pop : Open Forum – $ in Politics : 7/10/12

Yesterday, President Barack Obama's campaign and the democratic party said they raised $71 million dollars in the month of June, well below the $106 million hauled in by rival Mitt Romney and the republicans. Obama Accuses Romney of Caving on Taxes

President Barack Obama is accusing Republican Mitt Romney of caving under pressure from Rush Limbaugh for saying that requiring all Americans to buy health insurance amounts to a tax.

Obama says in an interview with NBC affiliate WLWT in Cincinnati that Romney supported the individual mandate as Massachusetts governor but "has suddenly reversed himself." Obama says it raises questions over whether Romney is abandoning a principal after "getting pressure for two days from Rush Limbaugh" or other critics.

Herbert London: History of Tomorrow

Let me state at the outset that my tea leaves are no more refined than anyone else’s. However, we are in the midst of potential earth shattering events that are worthy of speculation, events that are likely to shape our national destiny for decades.

I am persuaded Mitt Romney wins the next election in large part because there isn’t a victory narrative President Obama can develop. Gingrich All But Concedes His Campaign Is Over

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is all but conceding that his White House campaign is over.

He said Wednesday that he expects Mitt Romney will be the GOP nominee and called on the party to unite behind the former Massachusetts governor.

Gingrich did not formally withdraw from the race but said he is now campaigning as a "citizen." He did not explain what he meant.

Gingrich spoke at a civic club in suburban Charlotte, N.C., the morning after Romney swept primary contests in five states.
