Historic Cherry Hill

On May 7th 1827 a notorious murder occurred at Cherry Hill in Albany, NY that resulted in two sensational trials and Albany’s last public hanging. Historic Cherry Hill will explore this event through a lecture, collection highlights and a dramatic tour Funded by the New York Council for the Humanities.

Police Collect Letters Written Between Prues

Police say the Vermont couple charged with killing a St. Johnsbury teacher and dumping her naked body in the Connecticut River have written letters to each other in jail discussing the crime.

The couple are accused of killing 33-year-old Melissa Jenkins, after luring her out of her house with a ruse about a broken down car in March.

Man Arrested in Disappearance of NYC Boy Etan Patz

Authorities in New York City say they've cracked a 33-year-old case that helped focus national attention on missing children — the disappearance of Etan Patz.  WAMC’s Tristan O’Neill reports…

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly announced Thursday that 51-year-old Pedro Hernandez has been arrested on a murder charge. He’s awaiting arraignment.  It was the first arrest ever in the 1979 case.

Kelly says Hernandez confessed to choking the boy and putting his body in the trash.

Divers Search River in VT Teacher Killing Case

State Police divers continue to search the Connecticut River for evidence in the murder of Melissa Jenkins, a popular Vermont prep school teacher whose body was found in the river in Barnet.  WAMC's North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley reports… 

A Waterford couple has been charged with killing Jenkins and dumping her body in the river on March 25 after luring her from St. Johnsbury home with a ruse about a broken down car.
