The Arkell Museum at Canajoharie

    From Giverny to the Brooklyn Bridge: American Impressionist Paintings from the Arkell Collections is currently on display at The Arkell Museum in Canajoharie. The exhibition features remarkable American Impressionist paintings - sun-dappled views of France and America by Childe Hassam, John Twachtman, Theodore Robinson, J. Alden Weir, and Edward Redfield are among the notable paintings in this exhibition.

There is a curator’s talk about the exhibition this weekend.

Strike Dance, and Rise at The National Museum of Dance

  The National Museum of Dance in Saratoga Springs, New York will host “Strike Dance, and Rise” tomorrow from noon to 8pm. The event includes dancing, sharing and drumming to raise awareness about violence against women – and that is only one of the important events they are working on this month. Here to tell us more is Ruby Whitney from the National Museum of Dance joins us to tell us more.

The Carle Museum's 10th Anniversary

 It is the Carle Museum's tenth anniversary, and they are celebrating with some very special exhibitions, including the first major exhibition from their permanent collection (100 pieces reflecting 100 years of picture book history) and an exhibition of many illustrations from the classic, Charlotte's Web.

The sale of the Charlotte’s Web drawings last October caused quite a stir. Everyone connected with the world of children’s book art was thrilled by the strong prices. Thus, to celebrate their purchase, Garth Williams’s 100th birthday, the 60th anniversary of Charlotte’s Web, and the Museum’s 10th year, the Carle is assembling the exhibition, Some Book! Some Art!: Selected Drawings by Garth Williams for Charlotte’s Web, which comprises of approximately 30 finished drawings.

"Gordon Parks: 100 Moments" at The New York State Museum

A new exhibition celebrating the 100th birthday of world-renowned photographer Gordon Parks opens on Saturday at the New York State Museum.

Gordon Parks: 100 Moments showcases six decades of Parks’ photographs, including numerous never-before-seen images and Parks’ most famous photo, “American Gothic, Washington, D.C”. On display at the State Museum through May 19, 2013, the stunning visual collection is organized by the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.

Director of the NY State Museum, Mark Schaming, joins us to tell us more.
