Emmy Award-winning television and theater writer, Glen Berger, is the author of the new book Song of Spider-Man: The Inside Story of The Most Controversial Musical in Broadway History.

The book follows the troubled production of the Julie Taymor-directed and U2-orchestrated Broadway show Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, which was plagued from the beginning by technical difficulties. Berger was the co-writer of the play, and is here to tell us about how he got the job, what went right and what went very, very wrong.

  Hooray for Captain Spaulding! The intrepid African explorer, inveterate womanizer, and interminable jokester hobnobs with high society as the guest of honor at a swanky soiree. But when a priceless painting is pilfered, he and the guests are swept up in a screwball search for the thief.

The Williamstown Theatre Festival production of Animal Crackers overflows with mirthful melodies, dynamite dancing, and seriously silly slapstick. Animal Crackers brings a new interpretation of the Marx Brothers’ hit Broadway musical and classic film to the Main Stage.

The show is adapted and directed by Henry Wishcamper and the nine-person cast portrays 21 roles. Henry Wishcamper joins us this morning.

    Chester Theatre Company will open its 24th season with the world premiere of Arms on Fire, a new play-with-music by Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, the creators of the Tony and Olivier Award winning, Spring Awakening.

The production will run from June 26th to July 7th at the Chester Town Hall in Chester, MA.

We are thrilled to be joined today at The Linda by the aforementioned Steven Sater along with Byam Stevens, Director of Arms on Fire and Artistic Director of Chester Theatre Company; Natalie Mendoza, who plays Josephina in the play; Musical Director and guitarist, Joe Belmont; and bassist, Rhees Williams.

    Futurity is an original indie-rock musical by The Lisps, a Brooklyn-based co-ed of 21st century theater-prone indie rockers. Within a theatrically-staged song cycle, Futurity fuses found text, experimental music, and The Lisps' own brand of quirky pop to tell the story of a Union soldier in the Civil War who is an aspiring inventor.

The Lisps bring Futurity to Club B-10 at MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA this coming Saturday, April 27th at 8pm.

    The World Premiere of the new musical, Single Girls Guide, is running at Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany, NY through March 30th.

Inspired by Jane’s Austen’s Emma - the show is flush with fun songs and features movie send-ups of 1960 PSAs.

It’s 1966 Manhattan and newspaper columnist Emma Woodhouse writes a column she inherited from an older, now deceased, woman. Emma is still single and about to turn 30. In a Helen Gurley Brown inspired move, Emma recruits a ‘Single Girl’ from Rhode Island and vows to overhaul her life.

The music and lyrics are by Tommy Newman and the production is directed its book-writer, Gordon Greenberg who join us.

Grammy winner and former member of Destiny's Child, Michelle Williams, is in town to perform in the run of the musical FELA! at Proctor’s in Schenectady tonight and for two shows tomorrow.

    In the grand tradition of the English Rock opera, a la Tommy, The Wall and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway – there is a new rock opera for the 21st century: A Wall Street Odyssey.

Yossarian, (from Joseph Heller's seminal book, Catch 22) is reborn as a burned out stockbroker on a path of self-destruction, rebirth and transcendence. The show includes live music, costumes, narration and videos on a giant screen.

Songwriter Sean Bigler and wife Bonnie Lykes live in the Woodstock area of upstate NY formed Epigene in 2000 and are the creators of A Wall Street Odyssey. They bring their show to The Linda in Albany, NY on Saturday, February 23rd.

Lyricist, Lorenz Hart, together with composer Richard Rodgers, wrote some of the most memorable songs ever created. Gary Marmorstein’s new book, A Ship Without A Sail: The Life of Lorenz Hart is a revelatory biography that includes many of the lyrics that define Hart’s legacy.

The Two Of Us Productions is an affiliate of Roving Actor's Repertory Ensemble. The company is based in Copake, NY and they produce full-scale musicals, drama & comedies, and murder mystery evenings. 

Their upcoming production of A Tale of Two Cities is the Northeast regional premiere of the musical adaptation of the work by Charles Dickens.
