Thousands of students across the country participated in another school walkout today — the 19th anniversary of the Columbine shooting.

As students in Vermont and across the nation stepped out of classrooms Wednesday morning to demand action on gun violence Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy stood on the Senate floor to echo their demands.

Students at Columbia High School in East Greenbush, New York organized an assembly this morning as part of a day of national school walkouts. Several local officials were on hand to speak with students about school safety.

Students in the Northeast are planning to take part in the National School Walkout.
