Siena Saint legend, Billy Harrell, has died at the age of 85. The Hall of Famer’s jersey became the first one to be formally retired by Siena in 2006. He had led the Saints, then known as the Indians, to a 70-19 record from 1949 to 1952.
The New York Post reports, Donald Sterling, the owner of the LA Clippers recently banned from the NBA and hit with a $2.5 million fine for racist comments, has been battling prostate cancer for an extended period of time.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has given the LA Clippers owner, Donald Sterling, a lifetime ban and fined him the maximum penalty, $2.5 million, for making racist comments in a recorded conversation. It's the first step toward forcing a sale of the club and permanently removing Sterling from the league.

In the recording the man speaking urges his girlfriend not to bring black friends to Clippers games. The NBA and the Clippers are investigating the accusations, including whether the male voice on the recording is in fact Sterling's.
The NFL has announced its 2014 schedule, and it opens with the Super Bowl-champion Seattle Seahawks hosting the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, Sept. 4. The New York Giants will have their first game against Detroit in the Monday Night Football opener of the regular season. The Patriots will see Miami for their first game, and the New York Jets will go head to head with Oakland. The Bills will visit Chicago for their regular season opener.
Dillon Gee finished off the New York Mets' most unexpected Subway Series sweep. Gee struck out a career-high 12 and the Mets beat the Yankees 3-1 Thursday night. That win gave the Mets a four-game season sweep. The Yankees plan to activate Andy Pettitte from the disabled list on Monday and start the left-hander against Cleveland.
