In the NBA, veteran center Jason Collins has become the first male professional athlete in the major four American sports leagues to come out as gay. Collins wrote a first-person account posted on Sports Illustrated's website.
In other NBA news, Brook Lopez and Deron Williams each had double-doubles as the Nets downed the Chicago Bulls 110-91. Lopez finished with 28 points and 10 rebounds, while Williams delivered 23 points and 10 assists to help the Nets win for the first time since the series opener.
In the NBA, Jason Terry scored Boston's last nine points and the Celtics weathered a strong comeback by the New York Knicks, avoiding a sweep with a 97-90 overtime win on Sunday.

In the first round of the NFL draft, the first three players chosen were offensive linemen. No running back was taken in the first round, the first time that's happened in 40 years. The Kansas City Chiefs chose Eric Fisher with the No. 1 overall pick. The Jacksonville Jaguars took 6-foot-6, 306-pound Luke Joeckel, an offensive tackle from Texas A&M, with the second pick. The Dolphins chose Oregon's 6-foot-6 linebacker Dion Jordan third and Philadelphia chose offensive tackle Lane Johnson out of Oklahoma.
Checking baseball news, in the American League, Stephen Drew hit a two-run triple, David Ortiz had two hits and drove in a run and the Red Sox beat Oakland 6-5 to take two of three from the A's. It was Boston's ninth win in 12 games.
Elsewhere, Tampa Bay shut out the Yankees 3-0. Toronto beat Baltimore 6-5. The White Sox bested Cleveland 3-2. Houston cruised ahead of Seattle 10-3. Detroit slid past Kansas City 7-5 and Texas crushed the Angels 11-3.

Paul Pierce scored 18 points for the Celtics, who will host their third game on Friday. This will be Boston’s first home game since the Boston Marathon bombings. Elsewhere, Golden State rallied to beat Denver 131-117 and Miami defeated Milwaukee 98-86.
In the NBA, the Chicago Bulls beat the Brooklyn Nets 90-82 on Monday night to even their first-round series at one game apiece. Carlos Boozer had 13 points and 12 rebounds. Brook Lopez scored 21 points for the Nets.
Elsewhere, the Los Angeles Clippers are heading to Memphis after grabbing a two-games-to-none lead in the NBA's Western Conference quarterfinals. Chris Paul hit a floater with 0.1 seconds left to give the Clippers a 93-91 victory over the Grizzlies. Blake Griffin finished with 21 points.
