Musician Lukas Nelson, who has spent much of the past year performing and recording with Neil Young, is coming through the WAMC listening area this weekend with the band Promise of the Real. The group's new record Something Real comes out in February, and as Lukas Nelson (who is the son of Willie Nelson) tells Brian Shields, the band will be playing new music tonight at The Capitol in Port Chester and Saturday at the Putnam Den in Saratoga Springs.

Rocker Neil Young is lending his support to Vermont's efforts to label foods containing genetically modified ingredients.

Young, who performed in concert Sunday in Essex Junction, appeared earlier with Governor Peter Shumlin and donated $100,000 to a special fund devoted to defending Vermont's GMO labeling law from legal challenges.

Young has stepped up his activism on agricultural issues, and makes reference to the Vermont law in one of the songs on his new album "The Monsanto Years."

WAMC's Ian Pickus speaks with rock writer Glen Boyd, author of Neil Young FAQ: Everything Left to Know About the Iconic and Mercurial Rocker.
