Last week, the New England Coalition filed a complaint with the Vermont Supreme Court asking for an injunction to force the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant to cease operations until the Public Service Board rules on a Certificate of Public Good - the state’s operating license.  On Monday, the Vermont Department of Public Service asked the Court to deny that petition.

The New England Coalition, which opposes continued operation of the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant, is asking Vermont’s highest court to issue an injunction forcing the plant to shut down.

An anti-nuclear group is asking the Vermont Supreme Court to order an immediate shutdown of the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant.

The New England Coalition points to a state Public Service Board order last week saying the Vernon reactor's owners agreed in 2002 to shut down if they didn't have a new state certificate of public good by this past March.
