Pittsfield, MA – During the hard-fought campaign for the Democratic nomination for Berkshire County District Attorney, challenger Judith Knight said Incumbent David Capeless lacked the prosecutorial discretion necessary to get the job done. And while Capeless won the support of three out of five voters who turned out for Tuesday's democratic primary he did not do as well in Southern Berkshire County. Kingston, NY – Western Massachussetts Democrats voted to put up a fresh face for state senate in last night's District 1 primary. 25-year-old Ben Downing won the primary, in his first bid for political office. His closest competitor in the five-way race was Christopher Hodgkins, a twenty-year veteran of the state house. We have two reports: first, WAMC's Julia Taylor, who covered Downing's party in Pittsfield last night.
Pittsfield, MA – Challenger Judith Knight loses the Berkshire County District Attorney's race, but doesn't view it as a total loss. WAMC's Capital District Bureau Chief Jessica Bloustein was at Knight's headquarters on primary night.
