Schumer: $5M For Mohawk Valley Flood Counties

New York Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand say $5 million in federal aid for road and infrastructure repair will be provided to a dozen upstate counties slammed by recent flooding in the Mohawk Valley.

Schumer says the aid can help counties repair roads washed out and damaged by the flooding that hit June 28 to July 4.

The disaster area covered Allegany, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Franklin, Herkimer, Madison, Montgomery, Niagara, Oneida, Otsego and Warren counties.

Cuomo: Feds Won't Provide Some Flood Aid; NY Will

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says the federal government has denied some aid to victims of recent severe flooding in the Mohawk Valley, but the state will step in to help.

The Individual Assistance program helps victims recover and rebuild. It is in addition to federal aid that goes to governments to rebuild roads and for other major recovery projects.

Cuomo said last week that if the Federal Emergency Management Agency didn't come through, he'd call the Legislature back into session to free up state money.
