The North County Chamber of Commerce and two county legislatures hosted a visit by the New York state Assembly majority leader on Tuesday.  Democrat Joe Morelle was briefed on regional economic development strategies and projects and then toured the region’s transportation manufacturing facilities.

A bus manufacturer in Plattsburgh has filed notice with the New York State Department of Labor that it will close its plant in April.  As WAMC’s North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley reports, local officials hope the move is precautionary and needed contracts will be realized.

Nova Bus has signed a multi-million dollar contract for new buses to be built at their manufacturing plant in Plattsburgh.

Nova Bus officials announced Tuesday that the company will build 70 articulated buses for the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, which serves Houston Texas.  

The 48-million dollar contract for the company’s Artic Buses will be assembled at the Nova Bus facility in Plattsburgh over the next year.
