The Adams-Cheshire Regional School District voted this week at a district committee meeting to continue evaluating an online education program called PLATO, as a means to curb the high school’s dropout rate. The PLATO program or Programmed Logic for Automatic Teaching Operations was first purchased by the district in 2011 and can be used for test preparation, expanded learning, and credit replacement.

Under the proposed legislation, New York-based websites would be required to hold off publishing comments posted by readers who declined to identify themselves... no more "anonymous" reactions to blog posts or newspaper articles. Instead, those wishing to weigh in would have to attach a "legal name" to any comment, along with their HOME address as well as their computer's IP address.

Scott Butera, CEO of Foxwoods, in a web-based discussion Thursday with The Day of New London, said supply in the casino business is clearly outpacing demand. Gambling has been legalized in Massachusetts and casinos in New York are taking a greater share of the market.
He said he expects additional venues and online gambling to be a part of Foxwoods' future.
