States Of Emergency Declared In The Hudson Valley

States of emergency have been declared for at least two Hudson Valley counties.

The Dutchess and Orange County executives have declared states of emergency. Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro says the state of emergency becomes effective at 9 tonight when all roads in Dutchess will be closed and traffic prohibited except for certain personnel necessary during storm and emergency operations. There is no set time for rescinding the order. Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus declared a State of Emergency that became effective at 7 p.m. and runs through 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Moody's Downgrades County's Bond Rating, Again

Moody’s Investors Service has downgraded Orange County’s bond rating for the second time in six months.

Moody’s Investors Service Tuesday downgraded Orange County’s bond rating from Aa2 to Aa3 and assigned the county a negative financial outlook. This is the second time Moody’s has downgraded the county’s bond rating this year. In March, Moody’s lowered the county’s rating two notches. Republican Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus, who took office in January, had expected the downgrade this week after a recent meeting with Moody’s officials.

Hudson Valley communities Grant Program Launched

ALBANY – A total of $30 million was announced Thursday in the first round of funding for the implementation of regional sustainability plans, including the Hudson Valley that which was formulated as part of the Cleaner, Greener Communities program statewide.

The Mid-Hudson plan outlines the region’s visions, goals and objectives for a sustainable future and makes a number of recommendations, said co-chairman David Church, Orange County’s planning commissioner.
