County Joins Sustainable Westchester Consortium

Westchester County has entered into a partnership with a consortium of local governments that facilitates green initiatives including solarizing campaigns. County Executive Rob Astorino made the announcement Tuesday at a residence in Peekskill.

Monday’s announcement of an agreement to close the Indian Point nuclear power plant in Westchester County left local elected officials in a tailspin about tax revenues. They worry there is no way to fill what the Westchester County executive calls a gaping hole.

Pete Seeger took to the stage of the Paramount Theatre in Peekskill Sunday. Seeger, Lorre Wyatt, Guy Davis, and friends played a benefit concert for WAMC. WAMC's Alan Chartock dedicated the concert to Seeger's wife Toshi, who died in July.

District Attorney Looks Into Student Transcripts

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. (AP) — A schools superintendent in the Hudson Valley says several high-school seniors were given credit for a nonexistent course to help them graduate. He says the case is being turned over to the district attorney. Two weeks ago, Peekskill Superintendent James Willis said four guidance counselors were being reassigned while irregularities were investigated. Their names were not made public. In a letter dated Monday, Willis said problems were found in the transcripts of 34 seniors.
