The Plattsburgh North Country Regional Chamber of Commerce released its annual business survey and confidence index this morning. 

North Country business and municipal officials gathered at a local manufacturing plant Thursday morning to praise New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s economic development proposals and call on the legislature to expedite their passage.

Officials in Clinton County are chastising plans by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials to reduce staffing on the northern border.

The Plattsburgh North Country Chamber of Commerce hosted an informational forum on the upcoming changes in health insurance this morning.

The Plattsburgh North Country Chamber of Commerce played host to a visit by the ‘Consul General of Canada in New York’ on Monday.  The consular officer toured several Canadian business operations, including Nova Bus, Bombardier and the Champlain Port of Entry. He also answered questions during a forum with business leaders.

The Plattsburgh North Country Chamber of Commerce held its annual Legislative breakfast forum Friday morning. It’s an opportunity for the community to meet and pose questions to their Senate and Assembly representatives in Albany.

The looming automatic federal budget cuts - or sequestration - will trickle down to all parts of the economy.  During a meeting on business confidence, northern New York officials predicted serious consequences for some economic sectors in the region.  They are also disappointed that Congress can’t, or won’t, work to find the 2-percent cuts in the federal budget.

The Plattsburgh North Country Chamber of Commerce released the results of its annual Business Confidence Survey this morning.  While the region’s businesses maintained a high confidence level, the index has dropped a point over last year.
