One of the organizers of Rutland's annual Gift of Life blood drive marathon says the national record they set for a one-day blood drive could stand for some time.

A Vermont community of 16,000 is trying to break the national single day blood donation record today.

 

#GivingTuesday is a movement to create a national day of giving added to the calendar on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The second annual #GivingTuesday is on December 3, 2013 – that’s tomorrow!

Many along the East coast are already feeling the effects of Sandy. Meteorologists are estimating damages could range between one and three billion dollars or more. The American Red Cross is preparing to provide disaster relief services wherever needed.
