Cloudy Future For Regents

New York State Senate Republicans say they will break a longstanding tradition of boycotting the election of new Regents. They now say they will attend a joint legislative session, and that many will vote no over dissatisfaction with the Common Core.  It’s uncertain whether all four of the incumbent Regents members will be reelected.

Ed Officials Announce "Shocking" Drop In Student Test Scores

Test scores for third through eighth graders were released Wednesday, and they show a dramatic drop in the number of New York students who received passing grades.

Less than one third of students in the third through eighth grades, around 31%, passed the new math and English exams given for the first time this year, says Regents Chancellor Merrill Tisch, making the announcement on a conference call.

“As anticipated, the scores we are announcing today are significantly lower,” Tisch said.

School District Investigates Reports Of Irregular Test Scores

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) — The principal of a Hudson Valley high school and another administrator are on leave as the district investigates whether some students were given improper accommodations during Regents exams.
