Appeal of VT Wind Project Dropped

Mar 26, 2012

The Green Mountain Club has withdrawn an appeal of the Deerfield Wind project.  WAMC's Tristan O'Neill reports...

The Bennington Banner says the appeal was dropped after the U.S. Forest Service agreed to require radar-activated lights on the project's wind turbines.

Deerfield Wind LLC, a subsidiary of the Spanish company Iberdrola Renewables, wants to build 15 wind turbines nearly 400 feet high and a half-mile apart on ridgelines on Forest Service land west of Route 8 in Readsboro and east of Route 8 in Searsburg. The turbines would produce 30 megawatts of power.
