I’ve spoken often about why sequester type budget cuts threaten a weak economy and can worsen the debt. Today I want to talk about history.

The nation faces its latest budget crisis resulting from gridlock in Washington.  On March 1, budgetary “sequestration” kicks in.  Barring an unlikely last-minute deal, about $85 billion is set to be cut from military, domestic and certain health care programs beginning this Friday.

Northeastern states are looking at some large cuts in federal aid for a variety of programs including education, military and environmental protection--- IF President Barack Obama can't come to a budget agreement with Congress by March 1st.

Late Sunday, the Obama Administration released a 50-state report, a concise list of "local effects" in the event the so-called "sequestration cuts" automatically kick in.
