Report: Saratoga County Mental Health Director Sexually Harassed Former Co-Worker

The man who has served as Saratoga County’s mental health director since September sexually harassed a female staff member while working for a state-run organization.

The Times Union reports that a 2008 state review revealed that Michael Prezioso sexually harassed Heidi DiTonno while working for the Capital District Psychiatric Center in Albany from early 2006 through spring 2007, and retaliated against her after the conduct was reported.

#ItsOnUs : Union College Students Pledge

October is recognized in New York State and nationally as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In Schenectady, New York, the Union College men's hockey team is partnering with student leaders to combat domestic violence and sexual assault on college campuses.  Lieutenant Governor Bob Duffy  joined the leaders and athletes as they issued the challenge Tuesday afternoon at the Nott Memorial on the Union Campus.

NY Senate Votes To Expand Sex Harassment Law

The New York Senate has passed legislation to broaden sexual harassment laws — but it may languish because of an abortion-related legislative standoff.

The bill passed by the Senate on Wednesday would expand sexual harassment laws to cover small businesses, which are now exempt.

Assembly leaders have included the measure in a broad, 10-point "women's equality bill" that also contains an abortion provision matching state law with the federal Roe v. Wade decision.

NY Assembly Speaker To Propose Lopez Removal

New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver is proposing that state lawmakers expel Assemblyman Vito Lopez, who is accused of sexual harassment.

Silver is also asking the Assembly to consider the full investigative report, which was critical of Silver's handling of the Lopez case. He says he'll introduce legislation today, which would be acted on Monday.
