The Philadelphia 76ers may have a bevy of outstanding young talent, but the Boston Celtics demonstrated they also have some productive youngsters while taking Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series.

Terry Rozier scored 29 points and first-year Celtics forward Jayson Tatum added 28 in a 117-101 win over the Sixers. Rozier also delivered eight rebounds and six assists, while veteran Al Horford contributed 26 points and seven boards for Boston.


The Stanley Cup finals start tonight. The San Jose Sharks will see the Pittsburgh Penguins at 8 p.m. for Game 1.

The Boston Bruins were able to claw back from deficits of 1-0, 4-2, and 5-4 during the most entertaining game of this year's Stanley Cup Finals. Brent Seabrook gave Boston no time to mount another comeback. Seabrook scored at 9:51 of overtime to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 6-5 win over the Bruins, tying the series at two games apiece. Game 5 is Saturday in Chicago.

The San Antonio Spurs just couldn't put away the Miami Heat.

The Heat managed to force a seventh game Thursday night in the NBA Finals by scoring the last six points to beat San Antonio 103-100 in overtime. LeBron James and Ray Allen each hit three-pointers in the last 21 seconds of the fourth quarter after the Spurs failed to come up with rebounds of missed Miami shots.

In other NBA news, the proposed deal between the Celtics and Clippers that would have sent Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett to Los Angeles is off.
