The state agency responsible for economic development across New York says companies last year created 76 of the nearly 2,100 new jobs promised over five years in return for tax breaks under the Cuomo administration's Start-Up NY program.

The first annual report from the Department of Economic Development says 30 companies began operating in 2014 among 54 initially approved for the program.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Monday, standing alongside Vice President Joe Biden, announced modernization and revitalization plans for four airports. One is in the Hudson Valley.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced master plan design competitions for LaGuardia and JFK International Airports in New York City. He unveiled different kinds of revitalization plans for Long Island’s Republic Airport and Orange County’s Stewart International Airport.

New York State’s legislative session came to a close early this morning with the state Senate gaveling out shortly after 6:45 a.m. following a final all night session. The Assembly, which stayed in session from Thursday through to the early morning hours on Friday adjourned for the year at around 9 p.m. Friday evening.

Among those measures passed by both houses was Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Start-Up NY plan, formerly known as Tax Free NY, which would give large tax breaks to new businesses located near state college campuses.
