A student has been arrested on charges he used social media to make threats that led to a lockdown at his upstate New York college.

SUNY Canton in Potsdam has canceled all classes for the remainder of today, Thursday, and the campus is in lockdown following death threats via the social media platform Yik Yak.

Students in classes at the start of the lock down have been advised to stay in place and lock their doors.

The Watertown Daily News reports that students notified campus police of a death threat made via the social media app early Thursday morning.  Following a second threat, the campus was locked down.
