A Rochester developer is seeking an $8 million tax break for its plan to rehabilitate dozens of blighted homes in Albany’s Arbor Hill neighborhood.


Environmentalists are out with a new report critical of New York State's Brownfields Cleanup Program.

Brownfields are thousands of sites statewide - they exist in virtually every community - that range from the local dry cleaner that closed up shop years ago to shuttered gas stations to bigger, more polluted contaminated sites that contain dangerous toxins.

Many times these dangerous parcels are off the tax rolls, classified as "abandoned properties."

New York Senator Charles Schumer was in Plattsburgh Thursday afternoon, calling for the renewal of a tax credit for businesses that hire veterans.

New York’s senior Senator stopped by Bombardier Transportation in Plattsburgh, a manufacturer of rail cars, to tour the plant and discuss the importance of extending the “Returning Heroes and Wounded Warriors Tax Credit”.   Schumer says Congressional gridlock is stalling the tax credit’s renewal.
