Rain Pryor, daughter of Comedy Legend Richard Pryor, is a Director, Actor, Stand up Comedian, Writer and Artistic director of Strand Theatre.
Richard Nelson is a playwright and librettist who wrote the books for the musicals James Joyce's The Dead – for which he won the Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical - and the Broadway version of Chess. He received the Olivier Award for Best Play for Goodnight Children Everywhere and in 2008, Nelson was honored with the PEN/Laura Pels International Foundation for Theater Award, naming him a Grand Master of American Theater.
Cool things have been happening all Summer at the Weston Playhouse and they continue with the World Premiere (opening later this month) of the new musical, Pregnancy Pact. Inspired by the real-life story of a group of teenage girls who decided to become single mothers together, it is an entertaining and hard-hitting pop-rock musical about the realities of love, responsibility, and growing up in America.
The Wharton Salon joins The Mount’s year-long celebration of Edith Wharton’s 150th birthday by putting Edith Wharton herself onstage this year in The Inner House, August 15-26. Adapted by Dennis Krausnick from Wharton’s 1934 autobiography, A Backward Glance, actress Tod Randolph plays Edith Wharton in a vivid account of Wharton’s public and private life directed by veteran Wharton director, Normi Noël. This is the fourth consecutive season that The Mount has welcomed The Wharton Salon.
For more than 48 years, Performing Arts of Woodstock has been mounting quality productions of both new and classic plays – their latest offering is Yankee Tavern – A Conspiracy Thriller by Steven Dietz. The play opens this Thursday (8/16) and is directed by Nicola Sheara and stars Michael Juzwak.
