Tim Daly Stars In "Red" By John Logan At The Dorset Theatre Festival

      Red is a six-Time Tony Award Winning play about famed artist Mark Rothko. The Dorset Theatre Festival production of Red stars Tim Daly and runs June 19-July 6th.

Under the watchful gaze of his seemingly naive young assistant, Red chronicles artist Mark Rothko as he struggles to complete a lucrative set of murals for Manhattan's exclusive Four Seasons restaurant.

Here we speak with Tim Daly about the show, his Vermont roots, and why acting in the theater satisfies more than for television.

SUNY Ulster Stages Play As A Posthumous Tribute

A play this weekend at a State University of New York community college in the Hudson Valley will be performed in memory of a well-known figure in Ulster County.

SUNY Ulster’s Theater Department June 13 and 14 will perform A Day in Court, written by Ron Marquette, who was the college’s coordinator of community relations and special events until his death in 2013.

“His energy, his humor his ebullience were absolutely infectious,” says Collins. “And I said the term that people use was force of nature. Without a doubt, Ron was a force of nature.”

Woodstock Playhouse 4th Season

    

  The Woodstock Playhouse opens its 4th season of Summer Repertory theater on June 19th with Monty Python’s Spamalot. The season runs through August 10th with productions of Jesus Christ Superstar, The Three Musketeers, and West Side Story.

The Summer Repertory is staged in an intimate 321-seat theatre in the heart of Woodstock, NY allowing theatre-goers an elevated sensory experience of live performance from future rising Broadway performers.

"Kiss Me Kate" At Barrington Stage Through July 12

    Barrington Stage Company the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, MA kicks off their 20th Anniversary Season with Kiss Me, Kate - with music and lyrics by Cole Porter and book by Sam and Bella Spewack.

We are joined at The Linda by the production’s director, Joe Calarco, musical director, Darren Cohen and cast members Elizabeth Stanley, Paul Anthony Stewart, Mara Davi, Carlos Lopez, and Michael Dean Morgan.

John Steinbeck’s "The Grapes Of Wrath" At The Ghent Playhouse

  The Ghent Playhouse will present John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath, the classic saga of displaced heartland Americans during the Dust Bowl Depression. Performances dates are May 23-25, May 30-June 1 and June 6-8. The novel was adapted for the stage by Frank Galati and the Steppenwolff Theater Company. This production is being directed by Joe Phillips.

Renowned first as a novel, and then as a prize-winning motion picture, the story of the Joad family and their flight from the dust bowl of Oklahoma is familiar to most. The American classic celebrates its 75th Anniversary this year.

“The God Game,” a new play being offered at Capital Repertory Theatre through May 25, tells a thoughtful story in a totally engaging manner.  It has enough drama to keep you interested during its two hour running time but it doesn’t depend on the scandal of the moment to drive the story.

"The God Game" At CapRep

    

  The God Game, a play by Suzanne Bradbeer, is having its World Premiere at Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany, NY.

The play was included in the inaugural NEXT ACT! New Play Summit in 2012. NEXT ACT!, a joint venture between Proctors and Capital Rep, is a three-day festival with the mission of discovering fresh, exciting dramatic and musical properties, and nurturing both new and established playwrights.

The God Game is about religion and politics - the two topics to avoid in polite conversation. In the play, Tom and Lisa and Matt have known each other for years, through thick and thin - but the news Matt brings on an August anniversary afternoon in Richmond, Virginia could change all of their lives forever.

"All My Sons" At Albany Civic Theatre

    

  The Albany Civic Theatre in Albany, NY is currently presenting Arthur Miller’s classic, All My Sons.

During the war Joe Keller and Herbert Deever ran a machine shop which made airplane parts. Deever was sent to prison because the firm turned out defective parts, causing the deaths of many men. Keller went free and made a lot of money.

The play explores morality in times of war – and what happens in a family and a community when a war ends.

Aaron Holbritter directs All My Sons for Albany Civic, and Angela Buesing Potrikus plays Kate Keller and Ian LaChance plays her son, Chris Keller.

Tom Wopat At The Van Dyck Lounge

    

  Tom Wopat, star of stage, screen and TV will perform at the Van Dyck in Schenectady tonight for two shows in support of his latest album, I’ve Got Your Number. The album pays homage to the big band 'Mad Men' era, with Wopat performing classics from the Great American Songbook and contemporary songs from artists such as Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor--transforming them into jazz-tinged renditions.

Probably best known for his starring role in the '80s hit television series The Dukes of Hazzard​, Wopat has been getting raves on Broadway with such shows as Annie Get Your Gun and Catered Affair - he received Tony Award nominations for both - as well as Chicago, Forty-Second St., Sondheim on Sondheim, and most recently The Trip To Bountiful starring Cicely Tyson.
