WAMC Morning Edition Sports Update

In the NBA, the Chicago Bulls beat the Brooklyn Nets 90-82 on Monday night to even their first-round series at one game apiece. Carlos Boozer had 13 points and 12 rebounds. Brook Lopez scored 21 points for the Nets.

Elsewhere, the Los Angeles Clippers are heading to Memphis after grabbing a two-games-to-none lead in the NBA's Western Conference quarterfinals. Chris Paul hit a floater with 0.1 seconds left to give the Clippers a 93-91 victory over the Grizzlies. Blake Griffin finished with 21 points.

WAMC Morning Edition Sports Update

In golf, Adam Scott holed a 12-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole to beat Angel Cabrera and win the Masters. Scott and Cabrera birdied the final hole of regulation and parred the first sudden-death hole. Cabrera almost pulled out his third Major title, but his birdie try on the first extra hole just missed the cup. It’s the first time an Australian has won the Masters.

Times Union and WAMC forum on pedestrian safety

The Times Union looked at one of the region's more dangerous roads for pedestrians in its story Sunday, "Toll: 8 dead, 300 injured." Now the Times Union and WAMC Northeast Public Radio will present a public forum to address the issue of pedestrian safety in the Capital Region. The public is invited to the program at 2 p.m., April 17 at the Linda, WAMC's Performing Arts Studio, which will consist of a panel discussion moderated by Alan Chartock, WAMC's president and CEO.
