New York has obtained the 296-acre Marion River Carry in the Adirondacks in a deal that resolves a more than century-old history of property disputes between the state and Raquette Lake landowners.

There is both praise and disappointment in the Adirondacks over the passage of New York ballot proposals four and five on election day.  While the approval of Prop 4 is widely praised, the NYCO land swap remains controversial.

On this year’s election day ballot in New York, there are two statewide propositions that impact the Adirondack Park. The Adirondack Association of Towns and Villages is urging voters to approve both of the measures.
