The University at Albany is undergoing a major academic expansion, and it's happening with an interim president in charge. Dr. James Stellar has been leading the university since the end of last September after the departure of Dr. Robert Jones, who left for a new position with the University of Illinois. Dr. Stellar spoke with WAMC News about UAlbany's most immediate plans.

The president of the University at Albany is stepping down to take a job at the University of Illinois.

Earlier this year, Capital Region community, business, education and government leaders announced the University at Albany’s $60 million plan to transform the century-old former Albany High School building into a home for its new College of Engineering and Applied Sciences.  On Monday, many of those leaders gathered once again at the old school to share with the public their plans to conduct a joint study to look at "improving connections to downtown campus."

Three UAlbany women involved in a CDTA bus attack in January were arraigned this morning in Albany Police Court.

University at Albany President Robert Jones this week delivered his State of the University Address. President since 2013, Jones says the university must turn around enrollment, which has lagged in recent years, setting a goal of 20,000 students by 2020.
