Nadal, Federer Advance At Australian Open

 Rafael Nadal avoided the top player exodus that claimed two-time defending women's champion Victoria Azarenka in the preceding match on center court for a 3-6, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (7), 6-2 win over Grigor Dimitrov in the Australian Open quarterfinals today.

Nadal, who received treatment several times for a nasty-looking blister on the palm of his left hand, advances to the semifinals. Roger Federer regained his dominance over Andy Murray in Grand Slam matches and advanced to his 11th consecutive Australian Open semifinal with a 6-3, 6-4, 6-7 (6), 6-3 win.

Miami Beats Boston 93-86; MLB Players Angry At A-Rod

In the NBA, Miami blew an 18-point lead before scoring the last nine points in a 93-86 win over Boston.

The Brooklyn Nets got big contributions from their reserves in a 101-90 victory against Orlando. Andray Blatche scored a team-high 18 points. It was the Nets' eighth victory in nine games.

It was Oklahoma City over Portland 105-97 with Kevin Durant scoring 11 of his 46 points in the final 3:23.

Sacramento beat New Orleans 114-97. Rudy Gay tied a career high with 41 points.

And Utah fell to Minnesota 112-97.

Broncos and Seahawks Headed To Super Bowl

It will be the Seattle Seahawks taking on the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 48 at the Meadowlands.

Peyton Manning threw for 400 yards and two touchdowns as Denver beat New England 26-16 to win the AFC championship. The Broncos had to settle for four Matt Prater field goals, but the drives allowed them to control the ball for almost 36 minutes and keep the Patriots' offense off the field.

In the NBA, New York has a five-game winning streak after Carmelo Anthony provided 29 points and 16 rebounds in a 98-96 overtime win against Phoenix. Raymond Felton added 19 points for the Knicks.

Houston was a 104-92 winner at Boston behind Dwight Howard's 32 points and 11 rebounds. James Harden and Jeremy Lin each had 16 points as the Rockets moved into a tie for fifth with Golden State in the West.

In baseball, the Boston Red Sox pummeled the Detroit Tigers 20-4 last night. David Ortiz hit two of Boston's eight home runs and also doubled for his 2,000th career hit. The AL East-leading Red Sox took two of three from the AL Central-leading Tigers and kept the best record in the American League.

Elsewhere in the American League, it was Detroit over Oakland 7-6. Kansas City beat Minnesota 3-1. The Angels blanked Tampa Bay 2-0 and Seattle topped Houston 3-2.

Checking the National League, the Mets cruised past Philadelphia 11-3. Washington shut out Miami 9-0 and Milwaukee blanked Pittsburgh 4-0.
