Voter Registration

Vermont officials are urging state residents to cast their ballots next week when the state’s Town Meeting Day coincides with the presidential primary.  But to do that, Vermonters must have registered by today. The presence of a hometown Senator on the ballot could boost turnout.

Vermonters have until Wednesday to register to vote in the March 1 presidential primary on Town Meeting Day.

Residents may register at their town clerk's offices, by mail or online.

To register online, go to the Secretary of State's office website.

The deadline to apply is by 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

This week Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin signed a bill into law allowing same day voter registration.  While many activists are praising the move, some concerns remain about the logistics implementing the new law.

Vermont has become the 14th state to allow voters to register up to and including Election Day.
