Final Plattsburgh Air Force Base Property Transferred to Local Community

The final parcels of U.S. Air Force property at the former air force base in Plattsburgh was formally transferred to the county Wednesday.  

The Plattsburgh Air Force Base began operations in 1954, and closed in September 1995 following the third round of base Realignment and Closures. Since then the Plattsburgh Airbase Redevelopment Corporation - known as PARC - has worked with the Air Force Real Property Agency to redevelop the property. On Wednesday afternoon, the Air Force transferred ownership of the final parcels to the local community.

Vermont Secretary of State Calls for Earlier State Primary

Vermont Secretary of State Jim Condos plans in the upcoming session to ask lawmakers to move Vermont's primary for state offices to an earlier date.
    
General election ballots must be mailed 45 days before Election Day to military and other overseas voters. This is the second election cycle in a row in Vermont in which a gubernatorial primary recount has raised fears the state won't make that federal deadline. Secretary of State Jim Condos says the August primary needs to be moved to an earlier date, perhaps as early as May or June.
