Host Alan Chartock is joined by David Szczerbacki, who became the ninth president of The College of Saint Rose in July 2012 after serving for eight years as the college’s provost and vice president for academic affairs.
Alan Chartock is joined by Henry Wiencek, an author, editor and journalist who has written a dozen books on the Founding Fathers, early American life, slavery, and other topics. A winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award, Wiencek has penned a controversial new book called Master of the Mountain: Thomas Jefferson and His Slaves.
Alan is joined by three guests to discuss the 50th anniversary of Scenic Hudson, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the Hudson River and the Hudson River Valley of New York State: Ned Sullivan is president of Scenic Hudson and has led the organization since 1999. He holds an MBA and master’s in environmental studies from Yale. Steve Rosenberg is the senior vice president of Scenic Hudson and has been with the organization for 22 years. Hayley Carlock, a recent law school graduate, works on the frontlines of the group’s environmental battles.
Alan is joined by Kate Maguire, artistic director and CEO of the Berkshire Theatre Group, which includes the Berkshire Theatre Festival and The Colonial Theatre. A graduate of Boston College, Maguire has helped shepherd many productions from the Berkshires to New York and is also an accomplished actor.
Alan is joined by Anne Banks and Ted Dobson, whose daughter, Moira Banks-Dobson of Sheffield, Mass., was killed by a drunk driver who had six previous convictions in February of 2012.
