New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Women’s Equality Act saw some successes in the legislature in 2015, after the most controversial of the measures, an abortion rights provision, was separated out from the rest of the items.

Democratic candidate for New York lieutenant governor Kathy Hochul spent the day in Dutchess County. One of her stops was at Vassar College, where she touted the Women’s Equality Agenda as well as support for state senate and assembly candidates.

Former Congresswoman Kathy Hochul of Buffalo first stopped in Wappingers Falls and then met with clergy members in Poughkeepsie before heading to the student center at Vassar College, where she rallied with local Democrats to push Governor Andrew Cuomo’s 10-point Women’s Equality Agenda.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was in Poughkeepsie Wednesday as part of his tour to push his Women’s Equality Act. Meanwhile, a Hudson Valley state Assemblyman is calling on Cuomo to have Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver removed from office following what could be a new development in the Vito Lopez sexual harassment case.

Cuomo spoke at Vassar College, urging the roomful of supporters to make the Women’s Equality Act a reality before the fast approaching end of this year’s legislative session.

Regional Women's Equality Coalitions Form in NY

Supporters of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Women’s Equality Agenda gathered today in six locations throughout the state. They held events to launch regional coalitions of a statewide Women’s Equality Coalition that formed in March.
