A new report from a research center at the State University of New York at New Paltz delves into the impact of arts and culture in the mid-Hudson Valley.
The Center for Research, Regional Education and Outreach at SUNY New Paltz released its findings based upon data from more than 500 arts and culture organizations in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester Counties. The reports researchers say the findings confirm that arts and culture are of fundamental importance not only to the regional quality of life but to the regional pocketbook. Key findings of the report include that nearly half a billion dollars in economic activity is generated by this sector and, directly or indirectly, arts and culture provide employment for almost 5,000 mid-Hudson Valley residents. The report is entitled, “Mid-Hudson Arts & Culture: The Economic Impact.”
