The man suspected of shooting two men, one fatally, on Tyler Street in Pittsfield before fleeing to New York was arraigned in western Massachusetts Monday.Eighteen-year-old Thomas Lee Newman Jr. pleaded not guilty to murder, armed assault with intent to commit murder and illegal possession of a firearm in Berkshire Superior Court.
The Berkshire District Attorney’s office says Newman Jr. shot and killed 18-year-old Keenan Pellot Jr. near Chewy’s barber shop on Tyler St. July 31st. Authorities say Newman Jr. also shot a 17-year-old man who is in good condition at Berkshire Medical Center.
Newman Jr. was arrested two days later about 130 miles away in Utica, NY. He is being held without bail at the Berkshire County House of Correction.
