Officials welcome rain as Butternut Fire burns for third day in southwestern Massachusetts

Some much-needed rain came to drought-stricken Massachusetts Thursday, but the battle against a wildfire in southern Berkshire County has no end in sight.

WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief Josh Landes spoke with Lucas Willard on Midday Magazine from Great Barrington.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
Lucas Willard is a news reporter and host at WAMC Northeast Public Radio, which he joined in 2011. He produces and hosts The Best of Our Knowledge and WAMC Listening Party.
