An inmate who tried to escape from the Clinton County Jail in Plattsburgh Friday never made it out of the building.
At about 10:15 Friday morning Pedro Hechavarria-Tapia, a federal inmate being held at the local jail, climbed a stair railing and jumped through a ceiling tile into a mechanical area. But there was no exit from the housing unit he was in.
Sheriff David Favro talked the inmate out of the ceiling about an hour later. There were no injuries during the incident. The facility was locked down for the duration of the investigation.
