#SportsReport: NBA Free Agency, Dustin Johnson Wins Bridgestone Invitational

MLB:

In baseball, in the American League, Boston doubled up the Angels 10-5, Detroit bested Tampa Bay 5-1, Toronto crushed Cleveland 17-1, Minnesota edged Texas 5-4, Seattle beat Baltimore 9-4, and it was the White Sox over Houston 4-1.

In the National League, the Mets crushed the Cubs 14-3, Washington blasted Cincinnati 12-1, ST. Louis beat Milwaukee 9-8, the Dodgers won against Colorado 4-1, San Francisco edged Arizona 5-4 in 11 innings, and it was Miami over Atlanta 5-2.

In interleague play, the Yankees topped San Diego 6-3, Pittsburgh beat Oakland 6-3, and it was Philadelphia over Kansas City 7-2.

WNBA:

In the WNBA, the Sparks beat the Liberty 77-67 and it was Phoenix over Atlanta 95-87.

Tennis:

It took Serena Williams less than an hour to win her third-round match at Wimbledon on Sunday. The top seed and six-time champion disposed of Annika Beck in just 51 minutes to advance to the Round of 16. She joins two-time major champion Svetlana Kuznetsova, who rallied to beat American Sloane Stephens.

NBA:

A person familiar with the negotiations tells The Associated Press that Tyler Johnson has agreed to sign a $50 million offer sheet with the Brooklyn Nets later this week. Johnson can sign the deal on Thursday, according to the person who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the talks are ongoing.

Manu Ginobili says he is coming back for a 15th season in the NBA, although he didn't confirm he'd continue to play for the Spurs. It has been widely presumed that would stay with San Antonio if he didn't retire. The 38-year old became a free agent last month after declining a player option with the Spurs.

The AP has learned through people familiar with the negotiations of the following free-agent contract agreements:

— Four-time All-Star guard Rajon Rondo has accepted a two-year, $30 million package with the Bulls. Rondo averaged 11.9 points and an NBA-best 11.7 assists with the Kings last season.

— Jamal Crawford will sign a three-year, $42 million contract that will keep him with the Los Angeles Clippers. Crawford averaged 14.2 points in 27 minutes per game for the Clippers, and averaged 17.3 points in the team's six playoff games.

MLS:

Jack Harrison scored an early goal and set up David Villa for one in the second-half as FC New York City beat New York Red Bulls 2-0 Sunday, FCNYC's first win over its local rival. The victory also lifted FCNYC to the top of the Eastern Conference standings. The Red Bulls finished the match with 10 men because Chris Duvall received a red card in the 79th minute.

Tour de France:

World champion Peter Sagan of Slovakia has won the second stage of the Tour de France to take the overall lead.

F1:

Lewis Hamilton has won the Austrian Grand Prix after colliding with Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg on the final lap. Hamilton is within 11 points of Rosberg for the championship standings lead.

NHL:

Reilly Smith and Vincent Trocheck have signed new deals with the Florida Panthers after scoring 25 goals apiece last season. Smith got a five-year, $25 million extension that will keep him under contract through the 2021-22 season. His deal was announced not long after Trocheck finalized his six-year, $28.5 million contract with the club.

PGA:

Dustin Johnson shot a 4-under 66 to win the Bridgestone Invitational after top-ranked Jason Day faltered down the stretch. It's the third World Golf Championship title for Johnson, who was making his first start since winning the U.S. Open two weeks ago.

Day was tied for the lead when he hooked a 3-wood off the tee on the par-5 16th and hit another shot into a pond on the way to a double bogey. He finished with a 72 and slipped into a third place tie. Scott Piercy shot a 70 to finish a shot back. He was also the runner up to Johnson at the Open.

LPGA:

Brooke Henderson has successfully defended her title in the LPGA Cambia Portland Classic, finishing four strokes ahead of Stacy Lewis. Henderson finished 14 under following a 71 to become the tournament's first back-to-back winner since Annika Sorenstam in 2002 and '03. Lewis has finished second 11 times while going winless in her last 53 starts.
