Also in the majors, Washington has worked out a one-year, $1.4 million package with Chris Heisey. The 31-year-old corner outfielder hit nine home runs in spot duty for the Nats last season.

NCAA:

The top of The Associated Press college football poll is shaken up this week after three of the previous top-four teams were beaten on Saturday. Losses by Michigan, Clemson and Washington shook up the rankings behind Alabama, which is the unanimous No. 1 squad for the first time this season. Ohio State moves back up to second, followed by Louisville, Michigan and Clemson. The Wolverines dropped two spots after losing at Iowa, and Clemson fell two after being upset at home by Pittsburgh. Wisconsin climbs up to No. 6 and Washington slips from fourth to seventh after being upset by Southern Cal.

Sixth-ranked North Carolina had no trouble winning its home opener for the 15th consecutive year. Joel Berry II dropped in 18 points and the Kennedy Meeks had a double-double as the Tar Heels ripped Chattanooga, 97-57 to improve to 2-0. Meeks had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Heels, who put together a 21-5 run in the first half before scoring the first nine points of the second. North Carolina shot 56 percent while taking a 53-33 lead through 24 minutes.

In other top-25 college basketball finals:

— Isaiah Briscoe and De'Aaron Fox each scored a career-high 21 points and Malik Monk added 16 to carry No. 2 Kentucky to a 93-69 rout of Canisius. Bam Adebayo had 14 points and 11 rebounds for the 2-0 Wildcats.

— Isaac Hamilton scored 22 points and 16th-rated UCLA dominated the second half of a 102-87 win against Cal State Northridge. Bryce Alford finished with 20 points for the Bruins, who trailed by two before scoring the first seven points of the second half.

Marquis Wright tied a career-high with 31 points, Brett Bisping had 23 points and 15 rebounds, and Siena beat Cornell 89-78 on Sunday. Wright was 9 of 18 from the field, including 4 of 8 from distance, and made all but two of his 11 free-throw attempts for his second career 30-plus-point game. Bisping was 8-of-11 shooting and made all three of his 3-pointers. Wright iced it with two free throws with 79 seconds left to snap Siena's four-game losing streak in season openers.

NCAAW:

Laura Cornelius scored 12 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer, to lead No. 14 Miami past Albany for a 77-53 win Sunday.

Jessica Thomas and Keyanna Harris added 11 points apiece and Erykah Davenport had 10 for Miami (1-1), which held a 46-24 rebounding advantage and had 15 steals. The 11 points was a career high for Harris.

Trailing by a point at the end of the first quarter, Miami got a 3 from Cornelius to spark a 12-2 run that made it 31-22 with 5:19 left in the opening half. The Hurricanes led the rest of the way and stretched the margin to double figures for good when Nigia Green sank back-to-back 3-pointers, making it 42-28 with 2:10 left in the second quarter.

Imani Tate led Albany with 23 points on 10-for-17 shooting.

Miami hit 12 of 30 from long range, tying last season's best mark for made 3s.

Golf:

Paul Goydos closed with a 4-under-par 66 to win the Champions Tour's Charles Schwab Cup at Desert Mountain in Scottsdale, Ariz. Goydos was 15 under in claiming the $440,000 first prize, two strokes ahead of Bernhard Langer and four better than Colin Montgomerie. Langer fired a final-round 64 in clinching his third straight season points title and fourth overall.

PGA:

Pat Perez was a winner in his third start since returning from shoulder surgery, taking the OHL Classic at Mayakoba. Perez closed with a 4-under 67 for a two-stroke victory over third-round leader Gary Woodland. It's the first win for Perez since the 2009 Bob Hope Classic.

LPGA:

Carlota Ciganda rallied to win the LPGA Lorena Ochoa Invitational, her second LPGA Tour victory in four starts. The 26-year-old Spaniard shot a 4-under 68 for a two-stroke win over third-round leader Austin Ernst, 2008 winner Angela Stanford, Jodi Ewart Shadoff, Karine Icher, and Sarah Jane Smith.

NASCAR:

Joey Logano raced his way into NASCAR's championship finale with a victory at Phoenix International Raceway. Defending series champion Kyle Busch finished second to earn the other transfer spot into the final four.

The race went to overtime and dramatically changed in the final laps. Matt Kenseth was headed to victory until a caution set up the first overtime attempt. Kenseth ended his title hopes by making contact with Alex Bowman's car.

The second overtime pitted Logano against Busch for the victory, but due to the points standings any 1-2 finish between them would get both into the finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards are the other final four drivers.

F1:

Three-time series champion Lewis Hamilton has won the rain-delayed Brazilian Grand Prix to force a season-ending showdown for the drivers' title with Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg in Abu Dhabi on Nov. 27. Rosberg could have claimed his first season title by winning in Brazil, but the German finished second. He still leads the season overall standings by 12 points over Hamilton.

MMA:

UFC is legal and live at Madison Square Garden.

UFC 205 on Saturday night marked the company's debut card in New York following the end of the state's nearly two-decade MMA ban.

UFC stacked the card with three title fights that were expected to help set a gate record at Madison Square Garden.

Eddie Alvarez defends the lightweight championship against Conor McGregor in the main event. McGregor is easily UFC's biggest male star and had fans going wild for him all week in New York. McGregor, the featherweight champ, is attempting to become the first UFC fighter to hold championship belts in two divisions at the same time.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk defends the women's strawweight title against Karolina Kowalkiewicz and UFCwelterweight champ Tyron Woodley fights Stephen Thompson.

StubHub had tickets for sale for as much as $3,000 at the start of the night for what UFC had billed as its biggest and best card of all time.
