This particular space at the contemporary art museum, which opened in 1999 and added this building in 2017, is called “The Prow” - and this is the first time it’s held an interactive exhibition. Alison Pebworth’s Cultural Apothecary opened at the end of February and features a tea service and several invitations to reflect on how you are feeling through emotion identification and surveys.

Today is World Puppetry Day and Arts Mid-Hudson will mark the holiday starting tomorrow with A Day of Puppetry – which kicks off their Hudson Valley Puppetry Festival. Puppets of all shapes, sizes, and puppetry disciplines will be on display and in performance in communities throughout the mid-Hudson Valley tomorrow through April 26.

We’re going to meet a musician from Minnesota now. Indie band Hippo Campus released its fourth studio album, Flood, in September. It was recorded in just 10 days for the band’s new label, Psychic Hotline. And it came together as the group scrapped more than 100 songs. The album harbors a different feeling than previous albums and singles. But its melodies will be familiar to fans who have been following Hippo Campus since its 2017 debut. I spoke with lead guitarist Nathan Stocker ahead of the band’s show at Empire Live in Albany on February 8th.

Grammy Award-nominated guitarist and songwriter Gary Lucas brings an eclectic program of music ranging from 1930 Chinese pop to Captain Beefheart to Jeff Buckley to Spencertown Academy Arts Center in Spencertown, N.Y., on Saturday at 7:30pm.

To celebrate Chronogram Magazine’s 30th anniversary, they are exhibiting every cover of every edition of the magazine at Time and Space Limited in Hudson, New York, from October 15 to November 12. Since they launched, in the fall of 1993, Chronogram has featured the work of hundreds of Hudson Valley artists on its cover. Brian Mahoney is the longtime editor at Chronogram.

A new art festival is coming to our region this weekend August 4 through the 6. The brainchild of local gallery owner and artist, Christina Varga, Phoenicia Festival of the Arts will span the entirety of Main Street in Phoenicia, New York.
