Burdett Birth Center

A new initiative launched today in Albany helps to support low-income mothers during their pregnancy and beyond.

Instead of closing in June as long planned, Burdett Birth Center in Troy is receiving funding in the New York State budget that will keep it open the next five years.

State and local officials are still pressing for the Burdett Birth Center to remain open despite plans to close the Troy facility this year.

St. Peter's Health Partners held a virtual open house Thursday evening on the closure of Burdett Birth Center at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.

New York’s attorney general says the planned closure of a birthing center in Troy has been delayed until at least June 2024.
