This summer the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival in Garrison, New York is presenting three new plays written by three acclaimed theatre artists in rotating rep through Labor Day weekend. The plays are ““The Murder of Roger Ackroyd” adapted from Agatha Christie by Heidi Armbruster, “Medea: Re-versed” adapted from Euripides by Luis Quintero, and “By the Queen” inspired by Shakespeare’s use of Queen Margaret by Whitney White. Sarah LaDuke speaks with each playwright about their inspiration and output.

Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival's 2023 summer season will feature productions of Shakespeare’s “Henry V” and “Love’s Labor’s Lost” in rep and the World Premiere of a new musical by Alex Bechtel, Grace McLean and Eva Steinmetz entitled “Penelope” - an adaptation of Homer’s “Odyssey” from the point of view of Odysseus’ waiting wife.

Mid-century Industrial designer Russel Wright and his wife, Mary, built a unique home they called Dragon Rock at Manitoga - it is situated on forested woodlands, at the edge of an abandoned quarry in Garrison - a hamlet in New York’s Hudson Valley. Dragon Rock at Manitoga is part of the Historic Artists' Homes and Studios program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Princeton Architectural Press has recently released a beautiful coffee table book about the home and landscape and the people who made it and lived there.“Russel and Mary Wright: Dragon Rock at Manitoga” is by Jennifer Golub - published by Princeton Architectural Press.
