Vermont’s statewide primary is today. In key races, Democratic voters are choosing a candidate for governor and both Democrats and Republicans are choosing their candidates for lieutenant governor.

One of the most competitive statewide races in Vermont this year is for Lieutenant Governor, which is elected separately from the governor. Wednesday evening, WCAX hosted a debate between the Democratic candidates, including the incumbent.

Democrat Thomas Renner, Deputy Mayor of Winooski, says this is the right moment to run for statewide office.
