Two competing music festivals will mark the 50th anniversary of Woodstock this summer. The original concert organizer Michael Lang tells Rolling Stone he’s planning a three-day music festival at Watkins Glen International August 16-18th. The lineup will be announced when tickets go on sale in February.
Lang says new and legacy artists are being booked for the concert, his first Woodstock venture since the 1999 anniversary show in Rome, New York ended with fires and some violence.
Live Nation is producing its own Woodstock anniversary festival that same weekend at the site of the 1969 concert, Bethel Woods.
