The recipients of this year’s grants from the Carlos Vega Fund for Social Justice have been announced.
A dozen organizations in Western Massachusetts will receive a total of $7,500 from the fund that was started in 2010 to carry on the legacy of the renowned advocate for civil rights, housing, education and social justice.
Additionally, prominent defense attorney David Hoose is being recognized with a Social Justice Champion Award.
WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke with Aaron Vega, Carlos’ son and chairman of the fund’s advisory board.
A video of the private reception held Friday June 11 for the award recipients is posted on the Carlos Vega Fund for Social Justice Facebook page.
