Capital Region residents embraced Monday's 40-degree temperatures - but not the emerging potholes now appearing.
It's an unwelcome rite of spring - potholes plague municipal roadways and can end up costing motorists big bucks. Many cannot be avoided - hiding below puddles - others just seem to appear beneath the wheels -almost out of nowhere.
Rotterdam Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara co-sponsored legislation to establish an interactive website where drivers can report potholes, check their repair status and map out routes to avoid them.
The democrat also wants the state DOT to make existing apps "pothole friendly" so motorists can report them from their smartphones. He's also pushing to make the state liable for pothole damages to cars traveling on state roads during the winter months.
